Occupational Therapy Evaluations
What’s Included in an OT Evaluation?
The process begins with building an understanding of the client. We’ll take time to get to know one another, identify strengths and challenges, and decide whether a collaborative plan of care is appropriate.
An occupational therapy evaluation may involve caregiver input, interviews, observation of daily activities, functional skill assessments, and standardized testing. These tools help highlight areas such as sensory processing, motor development, self-care skills, and emotional regulation. Based on this information, we will create individualized goals and a treatment plan that supports the client in successfully engaging in the activities that matter most to them.
Most health insurance providers require an occupational therapy evaluation before approving ongoing therapy sessions. The completed evaluation can also be shared with other providers to guide them in making appropriate accommodations tailored to the individual’s needs.
